Pressure sensors are small cells laid out in a grid in the touchpad. When a specific grid junction is depressed, an element detects the pressure and translates it to the location of the ~cursor~ on the |video display|. The touchpad is an absolute pointing device, since every spot on the touchpad corresponds exactly to a specific point on the display.
